Sustayne: Support for Foundations

Earned-income can bring greater organizational sustainability to your grantees. Sustayne assists nonprofits in all phases of earned-income venture planning: from initial idea vetting to completing a comprehensive business plan. It is a participatory methodology that uses hands-on exercises to build on the existing strengths, skills and social purpose of the organization.

Sustayne addresses—and resolves— challenges such as mission drift, organizational capacity, and stakeholder concerns. We’ll help you significantly leverage your giving dollars by providing the technical assistance your grantees need in order to be successful at their earned-income endeavors.

What We Provide

To meet a range of budgetary and time limitations—two of the greatest barriers to success—we offer the following services. Price depends on the number of participants and travel expenses.

  1. Teleworkshops: 1-hour participatory sessions delivered over the phone. For organizations beginning to explore earned-income.

  2. On-site Workshops: Half to full day sessions. Tailored to address specific aspects of earned income development.

  3. Business Planning Intensive: 70 hour workshop, delivered over three months. Final product is a 15 minute business model presentation delivered to a panel of investors. For organizations ready to develop their venture model.

  4. Private Consulting: For organizations that prefer direct, customized assistance within a traditional consulting engagement.

  5. Speaking Engagements: Kirsten Gagnaire, Sustayne founder, is available to deliver keynote, introductory or advanced speeches on earned-income and social enterprise.
